junebug is a three-piece, noise-rock group based in the bay area with julian (guitar/vocals), margaret (drums) & kenny (bass). taking elements from post-rock, shoegaze and survival horror OST’s; they’re rooted in the feeling of melancholia and dissonance.
[ what’s ur fav piece of media rn? ]
kenny: devil may cry 1, 2, & 3 (4 sucks), the tracey fragments (2007), racecourse (so awesome), and mallbangs (i <3 n0thin9).
julian: on the calculation of volume, babel, and zero girl
margaret: toy box killer case (scary) i like this meme from the case where it's david parker ray's mug shot with "why so serial" written on it, sm moistcritikal, i love madoka magica, rewatching “nowhere" as we speak, been listening to a whole lotta foxtails.
[ u guys recently played with wisp at the noise pop festival in february, who would be on ur dream festival lineup and why? ]
kenny: um computerwife, ninajirachi, tagabow, lcd soundsystem, the radio dept … artists/bands that incorporate electronic elements into their set are so cool to me and hopefully something we can do in the future.
julian: broadcast, velvet underground.. that’s all. they’re awesome :p
margaret: lowercase, first day back, her new knife, flooding, blimp. if we ever play with these bands i know i'll be able to fully turn off my brain and just admire everything i'm hearing/seeing. bonus points if they sound kinda creep. also i always appreciate seeing another girl out n abt in the scene.
[ fav thing or hobby to do offline? ]
kenny: in my spare time, i enjoy making edits of different types of media and killing my letterboxd watchlist. oh and also dvd hunting. i have a crazy collection ngl.
julian: i watch things. i play things. and i read things. :)
margaret: i like to do tats on the side or really any sort of arts and craft. i’ve been really into candle making as of late.
[ any funny/crazy stories from playing shows or recording the flesh/perfume singles? ]
kenny: one time during a show in fresno, the booker stopped us mid set and told me to announce that a car was illegally parked in the back… that car was margaret’s 😭
& we had to move it before playing again.
julian: i was sick when we were recording locket and it was also covid time so i was kind scared. but the record rocks.
margaret: we're all pretty awk at taking photos, at this show in the starlet room, kenny and i were doing our own thing then we get these texts from kuya saying "where r u guys" "help." then we found him in the crowd looking dumb in the head cuz ppl wanted to take photos with him and we weren't there to be in it too. i always laugh at that cuz i think he's pretty awk. i also think it's funny when these boys get supa sweaty.
[ any last words and what u would like to promote! ]
kenny: life is short. make art with your best friends. time will pass anyway.
